Love is a dagger

"Love is a dagger. It's a weapon to be wielded far away or up close. You can see yourself in it. It's beautiful until it makes you bleed. But ultimately when you reach for it... it isn't real."
Loki's probably very unfortunate love experiences are summed in this utterly sad metaphor.
The truth is that he was loved by many people: his adoptive mother and father, his brother, his friends. But, as a fragile emo villain, he is too focused on his false loves than the solid ones.

This is very human, to be honest.
So many times we stubbornly obsess over the person we do not have, the affection we did not conquer, instead of observing all the people that are around us, cheering for us, loving us.

I guess we improve a little with age, but this "sentimental blindness" never truly goes away, with us keep trying to reach what we don't possess, instead of being serene with what we do.

Ultimately, I personally think that a certain pull towards what we really crave is positive for most (not running aground on situations just because they are "convenient"), but without being so imperceptive to not acknowledge all the wonderful humans we were gifted with.
