Spaceparents Masks

I super super super love these Hera and Kanan face masks.
The design is so well made.

As expected, Teepublic quality is SOO SUPERIOR compared to Redbubble, both in terms of printing quality and mask quality (fabric, band, and filter pocket is included!!)

I really did not need more geeky masks, but, how to resist?

Not today

Maybe one day I will stop.
[To feel like a 5-years-old].

But not today.

[PS. I know, the earrings are clementines, not pumpkins, but they are still orange, aren't they?]

There is coffee in that nebula

I'm waiting for this book for so many months!
I enjoyed Picard's autobiography, so I'm truly hyper for this book.
And Kathryn Janeway's stories are my most loved sci-fi novels.

"Star Trek: The Captain's Table, Fire ship" is one of my all-time favorites, and so you can understand the excitement when I found out that, possibly, more Captain Janeway tales (pre-Voyager) were about to be published.

I patiently waited, and here we are.
[Ps. Yes, it's coffee in the photo. Italian one has foam]

The lightsabers collector

When you wait for a book for many many months, you really cannot believe that is here.

It's everything I expected, and more, honestly.
Some lightsabers in this collection are wonderful.
I have also the previous small booklet on the same subject, but this new volume is in a galaxy far far away in terms of quality.
On Amazon, 27 dollars. The Lightsabers Collection.
If you are even slightly interested in lightsabers, *buy this book*.

I don't plan to post all the lightsabers here, because I think this is worth buying and discovering, without 'spoilers'. But allow me to share my favorite ones.
The Leia Organa saber is magnificent, and in the book, seems indeed more maroon/burgundy that light brass pink. It's gorgeous. Eventually, I have a preference for borderline evil characters, but the Sifo Dyas and Pong Krell hilts are outstanding.

Just keep sanding

Remember when I started to paint these lightsaber grooves in purple (twice), and it was kind of looking good, but the brass color was popping out?
Well.
I decided to remove all the extra layers first. So I got rid of the purple (again) and kept saaaaaaanding.

"When life gets you down, you know what you gotta do? Just keep sanding"

Buy it for the shoulders

The post today is about the coming soon Star Wars Rebels manga, written and illustrated by Akira Aoki, that will be available on November 17 for Yen Press (in the US).

As a manga lover, I consider amazing to have the chance to read our favorite stories and characters in this style.
Chibi Hera, sassy Kanan, or the whole crew having noodles and Ewok (???) meat, is a bonus.

I share here some of the images from the manga for consideration.
I edited the original text because really I don't want to spoil anything, but just spread the love around.
The paperback is in pre-order on Amazon.

Hello! I am Babu Frik!

I really cannot contain the excitement for this guy.
I am waiting for this Babu Frik plush since it was announced.
Pre-ordered as soon it was available.

It is an incredible doll. The packaging is super lovely, and his face is precious.
And, HE SPEAKS!!
Totally mind-blowing.

[Still available on Target website.]

When you play vs. Nadal

I need absolutely to share how AWESOME the multiplayer mode of Beat Saber is.

I read recently a comment about Star Wars Squadrons, and I agree with a lot: you cannot be matched with people 60 levels different than yours (I'm not even joking) and really enjoy the competition.

It's not about winning, really.
It's literally that it's another level. Not even fun for both parties.

Imagine a tennis match where Nadal is forced to play vs. my plumber. With all the respect for my plumber, who maybe it's an astonishing tennis player, I don't think it would work.
Like ace, ace, ace, game.

So. What about Beat Saber?
So far it is AMAZING.
And I hope it will stay like this for a while (at least the whole weekend?), where people of a certain level really play at that level.
Maybe it's because Beat Saber is more a family thing, so the average player is indeed average.
But, so far, it's balanced.

13.10.20

Still in love with you

I recently took some extra pics of one of my lightsabers, so I feel like sharing.

11.10.20

Can I be ugly too?

I am super enjoying Star Wars Squadrons.
The game is excellent and the characters all amazing.

I read in many posts and forums that some brilliant minds, after all the rants about Keo Venzee's pronouns and Varko Grey's husband, commented also that Hera Syndulla is 'ugly'.

I want to publicly state here, that I really really wish to be that 'ugly' every day, all day.
Thanks.

Accurate

As said, I had to feature in a post (and maybe more) the incredible face of this Han Solo action figure.
So accurate.

10.10.20

I am watching you

Today I discovered, absolutely randomly and just thanks to a photo on my timeline, that I can actually remove Zorii Bliss visor, and see her eyes.
This action figure is absolutely incredible for the price (it was a super discounted 6 inches Black Series figure on Amazon).

Wolfpack

A little bit of a story behind this wolfpack T-shirt.

I wanted one like Filoni for ages, but I could find it just on Redbubble, which, if you read a previous post of mine, I hate with a passion for the abysmal quality, shipping timing, and (basically zero) customer service.

I searched a little, without success, deciding then to make the vector image myself, tracing with Illustrator the picture of the original shirt.
When completed, I googled the best-reviewed website for custom merch, and I found that Custom Ink had a stellar reputation. So I ordered the shirt from there, not to sell it or anything, but just for a 'one sample' production.
After a couple of days, a very kind and lovely designer from the website contacted me, asking me if I had the Lucasfilm copyrights, and passing me the contact at Disney for asking the authorization.
Obviously, a mass-production was not my intention, so, very professionally and after a good laugh, they reimbursed me entirely.
I still have to order something from them, but the whole process left me with a very positive impression of how serious and cool they are.

That said, I really really wanted the shirt, so I ended up finding and order it from TeePublic. The shipping time was totally acceptable, and the quality is good.
I'm absolutely not certain that the author had the actual copyright, but, I admit I did not investigate the matter too much.

Mood

Not a collector

I am not what I would define a  pins collector, but I do (actually did, since at home I don't) wear a different lanyard every day, and each of them has ~5 pins.

Given I have more than 30 different lanyards, maybe I am kind of a collector after all.
I will take some pictures one day.

As usual, though, not a real plan.
Just an accidental collector.

[But maybe I should revise this since today I spend something like 150 dollars in pins]

Close to you

Not a lot of time today, so I quickly post this silly Kanera photo.

I was moving my action figures the other day (I love to change their positions every now and then) and Kanan and Hera were stuck by their hands for a moment.

So I decided to lock them like this for a while.

8.10.20

Volare

Ok, not a fancy picture.
But I don't have much time to play AND post in here before going back to grade (yes, it's the midterm week for professors too) in less than one hour.

So, a quick update because I'm *too HYPER* not to share my very wanted (and extremely overpriced) Thustmaster hotas.

It has been 20 years or something that I don't use a flight stick. And I never had a fancy one with a throttle control: I always played hybrid, with the keyboard.
That said, it's kind of unexpected, but it feels totally normal. Maybe because I *really* played *too much* during high school.
Yes. Last century (literally).

So, I cannot describe the **JOY** of playing Star Wars Squadrons in VR not feeling blind... I managed to complete all the missions with the keyboard, but moving from WSAD and ERTFG without actually LOOKING at my keyboard was really challenging. And I don't even start with boosting and drift.

I am eager to play all the missions again, perhaps trying the "just instrumentation" setting and -maybe- the veteran level (?) in the near future. I use the "pilot" mode right now, and already it feels like the ship is super delicate.

Anyway. The baby arrived. And I don't even care that it was so expensive because, FINALLY, I have all the control I want without feeling that I'm reading braille.

6.10.20

This, our town of Halloween

Fall is not my favorite season by any stretch, but I am having fun decorating the house this year.
I know, I know.
It's kind of early.
But it actually relaxes me.
It is supposed to be spooky, but I actually find it very warm and cozy.

[The router is VERY scary. I know]

看起来像

I received a precious hint on Instagram about this very good 40th anniversary Han Solo Bespin edition.
The face of this action figure is absolutely spectacular.
I don't think I own anything so similar to the actor face among all my Black Series figures.

Better pictures as soon as I will finish grading. 🤷‍♀️
[Still on Amazon for 20 dollars]

Roger Penrose, Roger Penrose!

There were a lot of "not good things" in 2020.
Yes, a kind of an understatement.

So, this. THIS, it makes me *VERY* happy.

Although maybe he went a little rant-y recently (who doesn't?), he deserves this Nobel 100%.
Logging in my PC today is happiness.

[It's without shame that I remind here that for years my "received text" alarm sound was Benedict Cumberbatch screaming "Roger Penrose, Roger Penrose!"]

5.10.20

The book pattern

In general, I enjoy every Star Wars I read.
It is Star Wars, after all.

However, I recently did notice a pattern here.
And it's kind of unbiased because I suddenly but inevitably realize it in the middle of a random sentence.
If I murmur to myself "wow, this is actually a very good book", it is normally written by Greg Rucka.

Uncommonly charming style aside, his depiction of canon and established characters is flawless.
And every fan knows how important (and, somehow, sadly rare) this is.

4.10.20

Still on time

If you missed this Clone Wars Ahsoka in your collection, 11 ones are currently listed on Amazon at 18 dollars. 😉

[Note: there is a listing also at 28 dollars with Prime, but these are way cheaper and it was here in a week anyway]
[The Rebels Ahsoka Tano version is still around 150 dollars, and the season 1 one is around 50]

3.10.20

Romance

The Final Frontier

"If I could survive to live one more time
I wouldn't be changing a thing at all
Do more in my life than some do in ten
I'd go back and do it all over again
For I have lived my life to the full
I have no regrets
But I wish I could talk to my family and tell them
That one last goodbye"

2.10.20

Suddenly, 1993

I know. I know.
I really should grade.
But I could not resist.

Soooo excited right now.
It's 1993 all over again.
Also.
I did not train (to not to vomit) with End Space in these months for nothing.

In this regard.
No. I don't care about 'winning'.
I want the "real" experience, no matter the difficulty to play or the motion sickness.
Team #firstpersonshooter forever.

[ps. it is so weird to have a cable attached to my Oculus Quest]

The precarious everlastingness

She is doing a million-people-podcast.
I am teaching online since more than 6 months.

Our setups?
On fruit baskets and books.

The Strangest Times

I was here for an emotional post about childhood memories, Artax, bold men, and the biggest star crushes of my life astrally converging.

Then.
Trump and Melania tested positive.

So, OK.
Nevermind.

1.10.20

The Pumpkin season

I'm waiting for more decorations actually (so expect a little more spam), but I am pretty happy with the first pack of new stuff (lights and lace) in addition to the ones collected in previous years things.
